Application of Angle Sum Property of Triangle

_Objectives_

1. Understand the angle sum property of a triangle.

2. Apply the angle sum property to find the missing angle of a triangle.

_Introduction (5 minutes)_

1. Review the concept of angles in a triangle.

2. Introduce the angle sum property of a triangle: "The sum of the interior angles of a triangle is always 180°".

_Teaching Aids_

1. Whiteboard and markers

2. Diagrams of triangles

3. Angle sum property formula printout

_Activity (15 minutes)_

1. Provide students with diagrams of triangles with one missing angle.

2. Ask them to apply the angle sum property to find the missing angle.

3. Circulate around the class to help and guide the students.

_Follow-up (5 minutes)_

1. Review the angle sum property of a triangle.

2. Ask students to share their answers.

3. Discuss any challenges or difficulties faced by the students.

Exterior Angles of a Triangle

_Objectives_

1. Understand the concept of exterior angles of a triangle.

2. Apply the exterior angle theorem to find the measure of an exterior angle.

_Introduction (5 minutes)_

1. Review the concept of angles in a triangle.

2. Introduce the concept of exterior angles of a triangle: "An exterior angle of a triangle is an angle formed by one side of the triangle and the extension of an adjacent side".

_Teaching Aids_

1. Whiteboard and markers

2. Diagrams of triangles with exterior angles

3. Exterior angle theorem formula printout

_Activity (15 minutes)_

1. Provide students with diagrams of triangles with exterior angles.

2. Ask them to apply the exterior angle theorem to find the measure of an exterior angle.

3. Circulate around the class to help and guide the students.

_Follow-up (5 minutes)_

1. Review the concept of exterior angles of a triangle.

2. Ask students to share their answers.

3. Discuss any challenges or difficulties faced by the students.

Congruency of Triangles

_Objectives_

1. Understand the concept of congruent triangles.

2. Apply the congruency criteria to determine if two triangles are congruent.

_Introduction (5 minutes)_

1. Review the concept of triangles.

2. Introduce the concept of congruent triangles: "Two triangles are said to be congruent if their corresponding sides and angles are equal".

_Teaching Aids_

1. Whiteboard and markers

2. Diagrams of congruent triangles

3. Congruency criteria formula printout

_Activity (15 minutes)_

1. Provide students with diagrams of triangles.

2. Ask them to apply the congruency criteria to determine if two triangles are congruent.

3. Circulate around the class to help and guide the students.

_Follow-up (5 minutes)_

1. Review the concept of congruent triangles.

2. Ask students to share their answers.

3. Discuss any challenges or difficulties faced by the students.

_Homework_

1. Find the missing angle of a triangle using the angle sum property.

2. Find the measure of an exterior angle of a triangle using the exterior angle theorem.

3. Determine if two triangles are congruent using the congruency criteria.

4. Solve the following problems:

    1. In a triangle, the measure of one angle is 60° and the measure of another angle is 80°. Find the measure of the third angle.

    2. In a triangle, the measure of an exterior angle is 120°. Find the measure of the remote interior angle.

    3. Determine if the following two triangles are congruent:

_Assessment Rubric:_

1. Participation and engagement (20%)

2. Accuracy of angle sum property, exterior angle theorem, and congruency criteria (40%)

3. Problem-solving skills (30%)
